Symposium on Ethics of Autonomous Systems
Austin, Texas

On June 5-6, 2017, in partnership with the Robert Strauss Center, the IEEE Global Initiative for Ethical Considerations in Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems held its second face-to-face meeting to iterate their document Ethically Aligned Design: A Vision for Prioritizing Human Wellbeing with Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems.

The document is designed to help technologists identify key ethical concerns within their work focused on Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems (AI/AS) that will also provide directional, candidate recommendations to deal with these issues.

Comments received in response to this request for input were considered by committees and participants of the meeting for potential inclusion in Version Two of Ethically Aligned Design to be released in the fall of 2017.

The AI Initiative was present through Cyrus Hodes and Nicolas Economou as well as other AI Initiative Senior Advisors, including Arisa Ema (Tokyo University), Nell Watson (Singularity University), Richard Mallah (Future of Life Institute)  and John Haven (Executive Director of the IEEE Global Initiative for Ethical Considerations in Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems).
